Date: Monday, August 4th, 2025 Time: Polling typically commences in the morning and continues through the day. Specific times will be communicated by the Electoral Commission at the local level. Location: Designated polling stations within all Municipalities and City Divisions across Uganda.

Overview: This is a crucial day in the electoral roadmap for Special Interest Groups (SIGs) in Uganda. Young people residing in Municipalities and City Divisions will cast their votes to elect their representatives to the respective Youth Committees. These committees play a vital role in advocating for youth issues and participating in local governance.

Who is eligible to vote? Registered youth voters within the specific Municipality or City Division. Voters will appear on the Voters’ Registers compiled based on their places of residence.

What to expect on Polling Day:

Identification: Voters will be required to present valid identification (as specified by the Electoral Commission) to verify their eligibility.

Polling Procedure: Voting will generally involve voters lining up behind the candidates’ portraits, symbols, or agents, or the individual candidates of their choice, in a transparent manner.

Security: Security personnel will be present at polling stations to ensure a peaceful and orderly process.

Observer Presence: Electoral observers from various organizations may be present to monitor the fairness and transparency of the elections.

Important Reminders for Voters:

  • Verify your registration: Ensure your name is on the Voters’ Register for your respective polling station prior to polling day.
  • Come prepared: Know your preferred candidates.
  • Follow guidelines: Adhere to all instructions given by Electoral Commission staff and security personnel.
  • Vote peacefully: Maintain a calm and respectful demeanor throughout the polling process.
  • Avoid unlawful activities: Do not engage in any activities that could disrupt the election, such as campaigning near the polling station, intimidating voters, or engaging in any form of electoral malpractice.

Purpose of Youth Committees: Youth Committees are established to represent the interests of young people, address their challenges, and contribute to local development initiatives. These elections are a fundamental aspect of promoting youth participation in democratic processes and ensuring their voices are heard at various levels of governance.

For further details and specific polling station information, please refer to official announcements from the Electoral Commission of Uganda or your local Municipal/City Division authorities.
