Date: Tuesday, August 19, 2025 Time: Polling stations typically open at 7:00 AM and close at 4:00 PM (voters in line by 4:00 PM will be allowed to vote). Location: Designated polling stations within each District and City in Uganda.

Overview: The Electoral Commission of Uganda will be conducting the polling for the District and City Youth Committees. This is a crucial step in the ongoing Special Interest Groups (SIGs) elections, which are part of the roadmap for the 2025/2026 General Elections.

Who is Voting: Members of the respective electoral colleges for District and City Youth Councils.

Mode of Election: Polling for District and City Youth Committees will be conducted by Secret Ballot.

Key Information for Voters:

Voter Register: Voters must appear on the compiled District and City Special Interest Groups (SIG) Registers.

Identification: Bring valid identification as required by the Electoral Commission.

Guidelines: Follow all guidelines provided by Electoral Commission staff at the polling stations.

Peaceful Participation: The Electoral Commission encourages all participants to engage fully, effectively, and peacefully in the electoral process.

Elective Offices (Youth Committee): The Youth Committee typically includes elective offices such as:

  • Chairperson
  • Vice Chairperson
  • General Secretary
  • Publicity Secretary
  • Secretary for Women Youth (must be female)
  • Secretary for Student Affairs (must be a student)
  • Secretary for Labour Affairs
  • And other relevant positions as defined by the Youth Council structure.

Important Dates Leading Up to Polling:

  • Compilation of District and City SIG Registers: August 6th – 9th, 2025
  • Nomination of District and City SIGs Committee Candidates (Older Persons, Persons with Disabilities, Youth): August 11th – 12th, 2025
  • Conduct of Candidates’ Campaign Meetings (Older Persons, Persons with Disabilities, Youth): August 13th – 17th, 2025
