Polling for Parish/Ward Youth Committees

Date: Monday, July 7th, 2025

Time: Polling stations typically open at 7:00 AM and close at 4:00 PM (voters in line by 4:00 PM will be allowed to vote).

Location: Designated polling stations within each Parish/Ward across Uganda. Specific polling station details will be communicated by the Electoral Commission.

Organized by: The Electoral Commission of Uganda

Purpose: To elect leaders for the Parish/Ward Youth Committees, as part of the Special Interest Groups (SIGs) elections leading up to the 2025/2026 General Elections.

Who can vote: Registered youth voters residing in the respective Parish/Ward, whose names appear on the compiled Parish/Ward Youth Committee Voters’ Registers.

Election Method: Voting will likely be conducted by voters lining up behind candidates’ portraits, symbols, agents, or the individual candidates of their choice.

Key Information for Voters:

  • Ensure your name is on the Parish/Ward Youth Committee Voters’ Register.
  • Bring a valid form of identification.
  • Follow all guidelines provided by Electoral Commission staff at the polling station.
  • Participate peacefully and responsibly.
  • Avoid engaging in any unlawful activities.

Offices to be Elected: The Youth Committee typically includes elective offices such as:

  • Chairperson
  • Vice Chairperson
  • General Secretary
  • Publicity Secretary
  • Secretary for Women Youth (must be female)
  • Secretary for Student Affairs (must be a student)
  • Secretary for Labour Affairs
  • And other roles as specified by the Youth Council regulations.

Important Note: This is a crucial step in the democratic process, allowing youth to elect representatives who will advocate for their interests at the local level. The Electoral Commission encourages all eligible youth to participate.
